OPHIOLITIC AND OTHER MAFIC-ULTRAMAFIC METALLOGENIC PROVINCES IN ALASKA (WEST OF THE ST MERIDIAN) By Jeffrey 1 ABSTRACT Mafic and ultramafic rocks associated with ophiolitic terranes and other petrologic suites in Alaska contain a variety of metallic and nonmetallic minerals that are of past and potentially future economic by: 2.
The Hudesheng mafic–ultramafic intrusions are located in the Oulongbuluke Block, north of the Qaidam Block in Qinghai Province, NW China. We carried out a detailed study of the intrusions, including field observations, petrology, zircon U–Pb geochronology, Lu–Hf isotopes, bulk-rock major- and trace-element geochemistry, and mineral compositions, to provide a better understanding.
The Gabal Taftafan mafic–ultramafic complex is thus distinguishable from the ophiolitic and layered igneous intrusion mafic–ultramafic complexes (online supplementary data 7). The ophiolitic mafic–ultramafic rocks are occasionally intensely deformed, where the layered gabbros are often located on top of the ultramafic cumulates (Coleman.
The Lachlan Orogen is host to four major and distinct metallogenic provinces (Fig. 1, Fig. 2).A fifth metallogenic association is superimposed on existing provinces due to periods of localised extension, which was followed by inversion and closure of short-lived rift basins to give rise to sediment-hosted but thrust-related, epigenetic mineralisation.
Metallogenic provinces of different ages were recognized, albeit with large age uncertainties. Primary depositional setting versus replacement was, and remains, an issue.
Independently, Bilibin () and Smirnov () documented specific lithotectonic and age associations for various classes of metallic deposits in the former Soviet Union.
The recognition of ophiolites, accreted oceanic plateaux, and other large igneous provinces (LIPs) in old mountain belts, and the ability to distinguish them from immature arc sequences, and layered intrusions has important implications for our understanding of the relative importance of arc magmatism versus accretion of LIPs in the growth of.
OYHlOLlTlC ANI) OTHER MAF'IC-ULTRAMAFIC METALLOGENIC PROVINCES IN AMKA (WEST OF THE ST MERIDIAN) ABSTRACT M~IC and ultramafic rocks associated with ophiolitic terranes and other petrologic suites in Alaska contain a variety of metallic and nonmetallic minerals that are of past and potentially future economic significance.
Metallic minerals that are reported, or have been. Geology and Precious Metal Potential of Mafic-Ultramafic Rocks in British Columbia: Current Progress typically at the margins of fault-bound ophiolitic blocks. Au and other elements in. In addition, metallogenic epochs have been defined for different mineral systems, that include porphyry-epithermal related to intrusive / orogenic, related to mafic-ultramafic magmatism, VMS.
The Tulaergen Ni-Cu-Co sulfide deposit is associated with a small differentiated mafic-ultramafic body (ca. Ma) in the eastern Tianshan orogenic belt, northwestern China. The mafic-ultramafic complex comprises amphibole lherzolite, amphibole olivine websterite, amphibole websterite, and amphibole gabbro.
This metallogenic belt is herein referred to as the Alexander Triassic metallogenic belt. The VMS occurrences show systematic differences in degree of structural control, chemistry, and stratigraphic setting along the Alexander Triassic metallogenic belt that suggest important spatial or temporal changes in the tectonic environment of formation.
Neoarchean mafic-ultramafic (ophiolitic) rocks are also reported from Agali Ophiolite Complex in the Bhavani Shear Zone (Santosh et al., b) located south of the Nilgiri Block, and also from.

Also, the total volume of the mafic–ultramafic magmatism was small compared to Western Australia or Canada, and the small size or absence of VMS and other sulfidic deposits restricts the amount of potential sources of external sulfur (cf.
Bekker et al., ), although clear evidence for assimilation of crustal sulfur can be found, for. In addition, numerous other possibilities (Table ) must be ruled out before an ophiolitic affinity can be verified (Moores, ).
Because lithologies associated with ophiolites can occur in a variety of other geologic environments, the geologic context is an essential ingredient for sound interpretation. Unfortunately, the interpretation.

Over investigated gold deposits, most of which are large to superlarge, are grouped into five tectonic units which include 16 metallogenic provinces (Supplementary Table 1).The tectonic units are the Central Asian orogenic belt comprising provinces of Tianshan-Altay (1A) and Northeast China (1B), the North China Craton comprising the northern margin (2A), Jiaodong (2B), and.

Read, borrow, and discover more than 3M books for free. Oceanic/ophiolitic magma chambers differ from continental layered mafic-ultramafic intrusions because magmatism is synchronous with extensional tectonism in a submarine environment.
Because oceanic ridges continuously extend, new magma formed by decompression melting of the upwelling mantle constantly arrives beneath the ridge axis. You can write a book review and share your experiences. Other readers will always be interested in your opinion of the books you've read.
Whether you've loved the book or not, if you give your honest and detailed thoughts then people will find new books that are right for them. Importantly, Archean LIPs, such as the magmatism within the Eastern Goldfields Superterrane of the Yilgarn Craton of Western Australia (i.e.
the Eastern Yilgarn LIP), are typically associated with voluminous ultramafic komatiites, as well as often hosting significant mafic–ultramafic layered intrusions, such as the ~30, km 3 Windimurra.

It is associated to the Beja‐Acebuches Ophiolitic Complex [Bard and Moine, ; Munha et al., ; Quesada et al., ]. This other Variscan suture constitutes the boundary between two tectonostratigraphic units: to the north, the Ossa Morena Zone and to.
The Jinshajiang ophiolitic mélange zone in southwest China represents a remnant of the eastern Paleo‐Tethys Ocean. Field, geochronological and geochemical studies have identified two distinct suites of plagiogranites within the mélange, the Dongzhulin trondhjemite and Jiyidu tonalite, which represent rift and subduction settings, respectively, related to opening and closing of the ocean.
